  Reread because I wanted the trilogy fresh, not because I wanted this. The siege is a stall — Vin and Elend spend eleven chapters wondering whether they're good enough for each other. That's the part I'd forgotten, and can you blame me?

  After Warmth of Other Suns I'd have followed her anywhere, and the India and Germany chapters earn their place. But the framework gets stretched until it snaps, and the pillars structure does not survive contact with an argumentative reader.

  The narrator does the Lagos sections and the Princeton sections in completely different registers and it is the best thing about the audio. Eighteen hours, no renewal needed, finished with four days spare, which never happens.
