IBDB stores the things you give it, and nothing it has to go digging for.

• Your account: username, display name, bio, and avatar.
• Your reading record: the shelves you sort books onto, your ratings, your reviews, and the lists you build.
• Your taste: the genres you picked during onboarding and the people you follow.

We use that record to render your profile, fill the community surfaces, and tune the picks on your homepage. That is the whole job description.

Private and unlisted lists stay exactly that. Visibility settings are honoured everywhere a list can appear.

• We do not sell your data. Not aggregated, not anonymised, not at all.
• We do not run third-party advertising.
• We do not track you across other sites.

Three services help us run the place. Supabase handles sign-in and hosts our database, so your data lives on their infrastructure under our instructions. The Google Books API supplies the catalogue itself: titles, covers, descriptions. ISBNDB fills in edition details and better cover art for books the catalogue already holds.

When you search, the query goes to Google Books so we can find the book. Your shelves, ratings, and reviews are never part of that request.

Want a copy of everything you have given us, or want it gone for good? Start from the Data tab in your account settings, where you can download everything at once or ask for the account to go. Deletion is carried out by a person rather than on a timer, so the date we give you is the earliest it happens, and you can call it off until then.
