  Read a novel about the end of the world on public transport, surrounded by strangers coughing, and I'd do it again! The Travelling Symphony in the snow. Survival is insufficient, yes, fine, put it on a caravan — it worked on me.

  Beautiful sentence after beautiful sentence after beautiful sentence, and the tiny chapters are ideal for a journey with a lot of stops, but by the end I was full up. Marie-Laure's model of the city, though. That I'll keep.

  Everyone told me I'd love this and I didn't, quite. Is it me? Probably it's me. The stretches where they're apart work better than the ones where they're together, which I suspect isn't the intended effect. My book group has taken it personally.
