One letter a night, more or less, for about five months. He is repetitive and a little smug and I still looked forward to him. The one about crowds I have thought about all year.

I lost the thread around Christmas and never really got it back. Kept turning back to work out who was where. Fond of it, but this one beat me and it has gone on the shelf half done.6 out of 10Oathbringer

September to May. The whaling chapters are the ones people warn you about and they turned out to be my favourite part; a few pages of rope or blubber is about right for a Tuesday.8 out of 10Moby-Dick

Four pages a night suits this one better than most. He wasn't writing a book, he was talking himself round, and you can take him in small doses without losing anything. I've been through it twice now.8 out of 10Meditations
