Second read. Should have left it alone.

Reread went badly on this one and I'm annoyed about it.

It's parody, and the things it is parodying have mostly stopped existing. If you haven't read much bad seventies sword and sorcery, the jokes are aimed past you. I have read plenty and they were still aimed past me, because I read that stuff so long ago that the targets have gone soft.

Rincewind works. The Luggage works. The structure doesn't. Four novellas stapled together and the last one simply stops.

Six, which is two points down on where I'd have put it from memory. That's the risk with this hobby and I knew it going in. Small Gods and Mort are the ones I am supposed to have loved, and I do, and this is where he was learning how to do them.
