Reader’s Note
9 out of 10
Reread in a wet tent in Ceredigion, June, rain on the flysheet all night. The river chapters hold; the young-man chapters I can do without now. I've thought about that ferryman most weeks since, which I didn't expect at nineteen and do at forty-six.

The river is the best character in it and I mean that as the highest praise.8 out of 10@an_ordinary_tuesday

The Hidden Life of Trees reviewed by @mossandink
Kind-hearted, and useful on beech and on how a wood holds water. He keeps telling me the trees are friends, are mothers, are talking; and each time he does it I trust the observation a little less. Fine for a beginner. Not for me.6 out of 10The Hidden Life of Trees
