Learned that the hard way. I had it as audio, eleven days into a fourteen day loan, listening on the top deck of the 43, and I had to take the headphones out and look out of the window for the rest of the journey and then walk the last bit home.
So a warning: do not do this one in public. Do it at home, in a chair, with nothing else on. I ended up finishing it in the bath with the tablet balanced on the taps, which is a fire risk and also the only time I could be certain I wouldn't be interrupted.
The narration is very plain, which is right. No swelling music, no doing anything clever with the sad parts. Eight hours or thereabouts and I did it at 1x the whole way, which for me is basically ceremonial; I put everything at 1.4 minimum.
Eight. I put a hold on it again about a month later and then cancelled it, because I knew perfectly well I wasn't going to listen to it a second time, I just wanted it to be there.

Every mother in the country has this on hold at all times. Waited seven weeks. It's nice! That is the review.7 out of 10The Thursday Murder Club
The Book Thief reviewed by @libbyoverdrive
Sixteen hours and the narrator has a lovely voice for it, very warm, but I ran it at 1.6 and I think that was too fast for what it's doing. Seven, with the caveat that I probably shortchanged it. Queue was only 9!7 out of 10The Book Thief
Gone Girl (Special Edition) reviewed by @libbyoverdrive
Borrowed it on a Friday, done by Sunday, and then spent the whole of Monday arguing with a colleague about whether you're supposed to like anyone in it. Seven. Great queue turnover on this one, three days.7 out of 10Gone Girl (Special Edition)
