Reader’s Note
Five months in the queue.

Five months! I put the hold on in October and it turned up in March, by which point I'd forgotten why I wanted it and had to look up what it was even about.
Audio, 1.5x for most of it, dropped to 1x for anything involving the scrapyard because I could not process those bits at speed. The narrator is the one who seems to do every second book on my list, and she is so good that I've started picking books because she's on them, which is probably not how you're supposed to choose.
Then it expired. Three in the morning, two hours left, and I had that particular feeling of being robbed by a piece of software. Rejoined at 31, waited eleven days, and the second time round I listened to the last two hours in one go on a Sunday with the washing up unfinished and the water going cold.
I did have to check with my sister whether the family make up at the end, because I genuinely could not tell what had happened, and she said no and then we had a forty minute argument about whether that's sad or not.
Nine. The only reason it isn't higher is that a book this good should not be findable on a fourteen day loan with a queue behind it. Buy it if you have the money. I did not have the money.

"That's not a childhood, that's a court case," Fiona said, and Deborah said she's being unfair to the mother, and then nobody talked about anything else all night!8 out of 10@bookclubdropout

Every mother in the country has this on hold at all times. Waited seven weeks. It's nice! That is the review.7 out of 10The Thursday Murder Club
The Book Thief reviewed by @libbyoverdrive
Sixteen hours and the narrator has a lovely voice for it, very warm, but I ran it at 1.6 and I think that was too fast for what it's doing. Seven, with the caveat that I probably shortchanged it. Queue was only 9!7 out of 10The Book Thief
Gone Girl (Special Edition) reviewed by @libbyoverdrive
Borrowed it on a Friday, done by Sunday, and then spent the whole of Monday arguing with a colleague about whether you're supposed to like anyone in it. Seven. Great queue turnover on this one, three days.7 out of 10Gone Girl (Special Edition)
